… This Island has always attracted the discerning traveler. Affectionately called “The Pearl of the Indian Ocean though it bears much resemblance to that of a tear drop”.

In this island of limited area, no other country can boast of such ancient and extensive exhibits of stupendous monuments, sculpture, carvings and architectural accomplishment.

What strikes you most about Sri Lanka is its amazing diversity of scenery. It is possible to pass brilliant green paddy fields, sun-bronzed beaches, ruined cities, small lively villages,, sanctuaries for wildlife in tropical jungles, and hill country tea plantations literally within hours of each other.

Sri Lanka offers fine beaches, wide stretches of sand and what seems like, miles of clear shallow water, pretty bays, deep natural harbours and lagoons, and underwater coral gardens. Sun worshippers, prepare to stretch out, curl your toes in the fine white sand, and get a glorious tan on sun drenched, palm caressed beaches that adorn over a 1000 miles of Sri Lanka’s coast. It is a paradise of unlimited sun, sea, sand and surf all year round.

The people of Sri Lanka are of diverse races and faiths. The majority are Sinhalese who are Buddhists, while among the minorities the Tamils, mainly Hindus are the largest, followed by the Moors who follow Islam and a sharply declining number of Burghers, descended from the Portuguese , Dutch and English , who are Christians. There is also a considerable population of Christians among the Sinhalese and Tamils.

Although well on the road to modernization, the country and its people still cherish their rich culture and tradition takes pride of place in their festivities.

Climatically Sri Lanka has no off season, being warm and fine year round. Bright sunny warm days are common even during the wet season.

An aspect which continues to attract visitors from abroad, as much as the beauty and diversity of scenery, is the warmth and friendship of the people.
